The Chanderi Cedar operates from Colwood, on southern Vancouver Island, the traditional territory of the Lekwungen-speaking Peoples, the Songhees Nation and the Esquimalt (Xwsepsum) Nation, whose relationships with these lands and waters reach back since time immemorial and continue to this day.

We recognize that this region remains home to diverse First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples, and we hold deep respect for the Songhees and Esquimalt families who have cared for these lands across generations. We carry our own heritage with pride while recognizing our responsibilities to the original stewards of this place.

The cedar in our name is a tree we hold close. We do so mindful that, on these lands, the cedar has been sacred to the Songhees and Esquimalt peoples since time immemorial, harvested, honoured, and cared for as a living part of their culture.

We commit to building relationships rooted in respect, reciprocity, and solidarity, and we encourage our community to learn about the Nations, treaties, and histories of the lands they call home, and to support the Indigenous leaders and knowledge keepers who continue to protect the land, water, and future generations.
